Watershed Saunas

By purchasing, booking, or participating in a Watershed Saunas experience, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Product Terms and Conditions.

1. Who We Are

Watershed Saunas (“Watershed”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is a New Zealand-owned business operating a floating sauna and cold-water wellness experience on Lake Whakatipu, Queenstown.

2. The Experience

Watershed provides sauna and cold-water wellness experiences in an outdoor, weather-exposed environment.

  • Format: Experiences may be Shared or Private, as confirmed at the time of booking.
  • Duration: Session times include any safety briefings and changeover periods.
  • Environment: As a floating experience, guests should expect movement of the vessel and exposure to varying temperatures.

3. Bookings and Payment

  • Confirmation: Bookings are confirmed only once full payment is received in New Zealand Dollars (NZD).
  • Accuracy: You are responsible for ensuring your contact details and booking times are correct.
  • Pricing: All prices include GST (15%) unless otherwise stated.
  • Gift Vouchers: Vouchers are valid for the stated period (typically 12 months), are non-refundable, and not redeemable for cash.

4. Eligibility and Age Requirements

  • Minimum Age: The minimum guest age is 12 years.
  • Supervision: Guests aged 12–17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
  • Legal Consent: A parent or legal guardian must complete the booking and sign the safety waiver for any guest under 18.

5. Health, Safety, and Participation

  • Inherent Risk: Sauna and cold-water immersion involve heat, cold, and physical exertion. Participation is at the guest’s own risk.
  • Medical Disclosure: Guests must complete a safety waiver and disclose any medical conditions that may affect safety, including but not limited to:
    • heart conditions
    • pregnancy
    • epilepsy
    • mobility issues
  • Alcohol & Drugs: Guests under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be refused entry. No refunds will be provided.
  • Staff Authority: Watershed staff may refuse participation or end a session early if they reasonably believe a guest poses a risk to themselves, others, or the environment.

6. Shared Environment and Conduct

  • Respectful Use: Watershed is a place of wellness. Guests must speak quietly and keep personal devices on silent.
  • Dress Code: Appropriate swimwear is required at all times.
  • Conduct: Watershed reserves the right to remove any guest whose behaviour is disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate, without refund.

7. Cancellations, Changes, and No-Shows

  • 24-Hour Policy: You may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your session for a full refund or rebooking.
  • Late Cancellations: Cancellations within 24 hours of the session start time, or failure to attend (no-show), incur a 100% cancellation fee.
  • Group Bookings: Private or group bookings may be subject to different cancellation terms, as specified at the time of contract.

8. Weather and Operational Changes

  • Safety First: As a lake-based operator, sessions may be cancelled or modified due to high winds, unsafe lake conditions, or lightning.
  • Refunds: If Watershed cancels a session for safety or operational reasons, you will receive a full refund or a credit to reschedule.
  • Variability: Rain or cold air temperatures are considered part of the experience and do not constitute grounds for a refund.

9. Personal Belongings

  • Responsibility: Guests are responsible for their personal items at all times.
  • Liability: Watershed is not liable for loss or damage to personal property, including jewellery or electronics damaged by heat or water.

10. Photography and Media

  • Marketing: Watershed may occasionally capture photography or video for promotional use.
  • Consent: Identifiable images will only be used with your consent. You may opt out at any time by notifying a staff member.

11. Liability and Assumption of Risk

  • Exclusion: To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, Watershed is not liable for personal injury, illness, or loss arising from participation in the experience.
  • Statutory Rights: Nothing in these Terms excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
  • ACC: Most personal injuries in New Zealand are covered by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
